How To Recreate a Song in 4 Steps

Ever wanted to know how to recreate a song? In this video, I give you a complete behind the scenes on how I made my faithful recreation of Watermelon Sugar by Harry Styles.

If you’re making a cover version, especially if you want it to sound like the original, this is a must-watch. There are four steps to this process, and it all starts off with just a MIDI track! I’ll then show you my process of getting the synthesised, sampled and recorded sounds just right. You’ll see me getting all the instruments in place, recording the different parts and then finally, mixing the track.

The DAW I use for this is Pro Tools, but the tips apply to any DAW. And while I’ve chosen Watermelon Sugar for this cover, you can apply these tips to any popular song. Now let’s find out how to recreate a song!

And, if you want to learn how to mix yourself, this series goes through the entire process in a simple to follow way.
